ECOARES – An Environmental Awareness Program

It has been scientifically proven that global warming and climate change are caused mainly by human lifestyles. To face these new challenges, we must adopt a wide range of actions as soon as possible and on a large scale -- actions which imply a change in our way of living, producing, consuming, disposing of wastes, and in the way we move around. Studies undertaken by the ECOAR Institute for Citizenship have shown that it is possible to reduce our emissions of greenhouse gases, the cause of global warming, without affecting human quality of life.

THE PROGRAM

ECOARES, the ECOAR Environmental Awareness Program, was developed to address the effects of global warming by reducing, neutralizing and adapting to climate change. It consists of making people aware and stimulating them to adopt good environmental habits in their day to day life, both at work and at home.

THE GOAL

The goal of the program is to support and stimulate groups to work on climate change issues, by taking the following steps:

• Reduce and neutralize greenhouse gases;
• Adopt good consumption and waste reduction habits;
• Stimulate socio-environmental practices;
• Exchange information and experiences;
• Stimulate continuous learning.

In the corporate environment, the ECOARES program also contributes to the professional success of its collaborators, promotes benefits for partners, stimulates environmental conservation and materials recovery, and adds reputational value for companies, increasing shareholders’ and investors’ returns.

THE METHODOLOGY

Coordinated by a team of specialists and based in technical knowledge, ECOARES proposes activities for the adoption of sustainable practices in daily life, bringing benefits to companies, collaborators and communities alike.

Our methodology includes:

• Sensitization through presentation of the project in events, meetings, and educational games;
• Awareness through activities such as “workshops of the future”;
• Capacity Building through thematic workshops and training;
• Development of Commitment during the entire implementation process.
